January 25, 2010 CURRENT CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES What: Crews will continue work on the storm drains on the south side of the street within this week. Irrigation work will continue this week as well. Where: Along the entire length of 3900 South, from Honeycut Rd. to 2300 East. Some excavation and milling will extend into the side streets. Why: To prepare for the new roadway and sidewalks. When: Traffic shifting began in November 2009 and will continue through May 2010. This schedule is subject to change due to weather or equipment related issues. 30 mph Speed Limit: For safety reasons, the enforced speed limit during construction is 30 mph. Motorists should reduce speeds, be aware of their surroundings, and be prepared to stop at any time. Mail Delivery: Through the duration of the construction project, the US Post Office will not be delivering mail to the resident and businesses with mailboxes located on 3900 South. Mail will be held at the Holladay Branch, located at 2350 Arbor Lane (approx 4750 South), Salt Lake City, UT 84117. Garbage Pick Up: During the winter months, crews have shifted traffic to the north side and removed all the barrels. Construction will be limited due to the winter temperatures and weather. During this time, residents/businesses located on the north side may place their garbage cans back in their typical pick up location, prior to the beginning of construction. Residents/businesses located on the south side of the street may have varying trash locations. Since construction will be minimal on the south side, crews will have a few barrels placed in the areas where they will be working that day. If barrels are placed in front of your typical trash location, please carry your trash can through the construction portion and place your can in line with the orange construction barrels. Trash pick up will continue to be on Tuesdays at 7 am and the new trash configuration will begin on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. UTA Bus Route: For safety reasons, UTA will be redirecting the detour route for route 39 during the length of this project. Buses will use 4500 South from Highland Drive to 2300 East to Lincoln Lane to 2700 East to 3900 South. Cyclists & Pedestrians: The overall goal of the project is to make 3900 South safer for cyclists, pedestrians and commuters. Although we would like to accommodate cyclists and pedestrians during construction, it is not always feasible. For your safety as a cyclist or pedestrian, please consider an alternate route. 3900 South Construction Hotline, 801.904.4160 or email 3900South@utah.gov If you no longer wish to receive email updates on this project, please reply with “unsubscribe” in the subject line.
